Codecs are used for various purposes in VIPRO's solutions. For the VIPRO EXPRESS, LE and ENT products, codecs are utilized to provide compression for AVI export. For the VIPRO TVR codecs are used for live viewing and AVI recording. Please pay special attention to installing proper codecs depending on VIPRO product and MPEG4 cameras used.
VIPRO TVR Codecs
ACTi MPEG4 Codec ACTi does not support alternate codec selections. In order to use the ACTi cameras and video servers with the VIPRO TVR you must install their recommended codec.
Vivotek Default MPEG4 Codec Vivotek's default codec is MPEG4 v1. Vivotek allows you to use allow any codec that is installed on your machine. Please note that
VIPRO EXPRESS/LE/ENT Codecs
DivX 6.0 The DivX codec is the most common and free codec that is used for exporting JPEG images to AVI files.
VIPRO EXPRESS/LE/ENT Export Sheet lists all steps required to export images to AVI files.
Codec Tools
Sherlock is used to list all installed codecs on your machine. This tool can be very useful when trying to troubleshoot codec related issues on your machine.
Advanced Codec Notes
- Microsoft limits AVI files to 2GB in length.
- Using other codecs not listed here may cause viewing and recording issues. Please test any new codec thoroughly before deployment.
